Sharons Guest gets the better of the rest in the Grade A3 450 race at Oxford
Sharons Guest, a black b***h trained by S J Rayner, notched up the top position in a Grade A3 race of 450m category at Oxford on January 15.
The victorious hound ran against Swift Pearl, Larkhill Boy, Lazy Jim, Selkirk Souter and Builders star.
The race began at 17:11 with Sharons Guest breaking from trap 1. She was the most favourite runner with starting price of 9 to 4.
As soon as the daughter of Sincereley Yours started, she jumped onto the lead, but suddenly lagged after stepping a few yards ahead.
Swift Pearl outstripped her but she did not lose heart and rejuvenated her chances with immense pace in the middle.
Soon she started running parallel with Swift Pearl. Just a few yards before the finish line, Sharons Guest took the lead, and rushed fast to finish in 27.14 seconds, defeating the runner-up by 1 length.
It was an outstanding and unbelievable victory which gave a sigh of relief to the bookies who had betted on her.
It was for the 15th time the b***h ended up with this position since her debut on March 20, 2010.
Swift Pearl, despite strenuous struggle, was forced to rely on the second position in the race.
Breaking from trap 4, the brindle b***h gave enough tough time to Sharons Guest. Trailing by one length, she reached the finish line in 27.23 seconds.
Whelped in April 2010, the daughter of Swift Reel started her career in September, 2011. She achieved this spot for the 3rd time in her career.
The trainee of G.E. Hepden has a low winning ratio and this is a matter of grave concern for her mentor, who wants to gain momentum and wants her to finish first in upcoming events.
Trained by A M Kibble, Larkhill Boy finished third in the race. Whelped in May 2007, the veteran black dog broke from trap 3.
He was quick in the start but failed to increase his speed, lagging 3 lengths behind. The son of Larkhill Jo crossed the boundary line in 27.47 seconds.
At the end of the event, the topper bagged £55, while each of the other five participants earned £25. Overall, it was an amazing and interesting race, enjoyed much by the locals.
