Whether they are First Ladies or Vice Presidents, we're seeing great women emerging on the national stage this year---no matter what happens in November, this is a cool change!

As 1st ladies this is nothing new. You are describing Jackie Kennedy.

As a VP, well that's a different matter. While not the 1st female VP nominated Palin doesn't have the baggage associated with her husband that Ms. Ferraro had to deal with.
