Question:

Sharp HDTV warranty procedure?

Does anyone know how sharps warranty procedure goes? Do they send me a box to send my tv or does someone pick it up? I recently got a dead pixel on the tv four months after buying it, Now the stores replacement is gone until sharps one year warranty is up. So I don't know if its worth the hassle of sending it out to get fixed or just wait for a year and get it replaced by the store (bought a 2 year replacement plan that starts after sharps warranty)

And would anyone know about how long it takes to get fixed?...

  1. Hmmmm! I'd start by carefully and completely reading my warranty. That will give you much more accurate info than any guesses you receive here. And if you are anywhere close to 2 yrs., and will actually be able to get a comparable replacement with a new warranty, go for it!

  2. First-find your warranty-it is probably in your manual-or go on line to sharp's site.

Generally speaking, sharp's warranty, in the US, is one year for parts and ninety days for labor.

Second-I know of no TV manufacturer which covers a single dead pixel under warranty. They all exclude a small number of dead pixels from coverage.

The better manufacturers will sometrimes "bend" the rule if the dead pixels are in a particularly bad position-say all of them grouped together in the middle of the screen.

You'll have to check the exclusions in the stores wxtended warranty to see if dead pixels are covered.
