Question:

Sharp Microwave died after Power Surge

I have a Sharp R530 countertop microwave. The display panel had gone partially blank a few years back, but the unit continued to operate normally.

Then a few weeks ago, after a power outage, the display magically returned to normal, but the unit started acting up. While operating, the timer would continue to count down, but the unit would stop working for a few seconds (turntable would stop, fan would stop and presumably magentron too). Then after a few seconds, everything would come back on..

Then yesterday, the same thing happened, but it didn't start back up again. Now the display continues to work, but othere than the interior light, nothing happens inside the microwave.

Is this something that can be fixed with a display panel rebuild or is it more serious?
