Question:

Sharp Pain in Upper Buttocks?

by  |  earlier

I just started to have sharp pains in my upper buttocks, in the middle (crack), right behind where my "tail bone" is located. I have never had this before, but over the last few weeks, it has gotten worse, and now it is painful sometimes when I lay down. I have not had any injuries lately, but did "break" my tailbone about three years ago. Any thoughts?

  1. Maybe you're having sciatic nerve pain.  It can feel like a sharp pain in your butt (usually one side or the other) that may or may not radiate down into your leg.  It can be painful when sitting, laying down, standing, or walking.  It's pretty miserable.  Maybe it's due to your previous injury.  Mine just appeared one day, lasted about a week, then went away on it's own.  My doctor thought it may be due to wearing different shoes at work since I do a lot of walking.
