I usually have something that feels like costochodritis in my ribs, but once it felt like it happened in my heart. I jumped up when it happened and started breathing heavily. Is that normal or what? What is it called?

  1. Those could be a simple as growing pains or locked up muscles. A problem from not treating your muscles correctly or having stomach problems are the most common causes of what you describe.

Could be more serious, but isn't likely.

  2. I would talk to your mom and get to a doctor asap as it may be many different things.

  3. You might need to read up on MSG's.  Or it could be something else.

  4. Those are usually normal. Even I have those some times. It may be a sign that you might have heart problems in the future so you may want to check it out with a doctor. It might even just be heartburn, eaten anything spicy lately?

  5. Heart attack sign you have heart problems/ going to die early.

  6. The heart pain you mention can be caused by costochondritis http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/costoch...  Inflammation in this area can cause adjacent (surrounding) structures like the heart to hurt too.  This is called "referred" pain, because it happens in an area away from the injury or problem.

You may also have pleurisy, which is when the lining around the lungs becomes inflamed http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pleuris...  This can cause chest pain like yours.  Sometimes you get pleurisy after you've had a cold or the flu.

If you've had this for more than two weeks, you may want to ask your parents to take you to a doctor.  Constant inflammation can cause problems elsewhere in your body after a while.
