So yesterday I was laying down and all of a sudden it felt like someone was sitting on my chest and I couldn't get enough air. I sat up, and then I got this really sharp pain in my throat. Eventually it went away, but I'm not sure what caused it or what I should do... ideas? (aside from going to the dr.. I made an appt, but it'll be a month before I can get in)

  1. All right.  Chest muscle spasm, and temporary tightening of the diaphragm.

Sometimes you just catch the diaphragm the wrong way with a movement, or it can be fatigued, and so can heart muscle, like any muscle.

Take hot shower or bath.  However, if that makes you short of breath in steam etc., then it won't work in your case.

Relax overall, it is a little sign of stress.
