Sharp pains in b*****s?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and I'm having contractions right now (not sure if they're active labor, I had s*x earlier which usually causes them). Well I'm having very sharp pains in my b*****s all of the sudden. Is this normal? They've been itchy for the past couple of weeks, but not painful like this. They're not painful to the touch, just sharp pains that come and go.

  1. I got very strong pains in my right breast about 45  mins before my water broke. They later told me it was due to my "milk fasting" which meant that my milk was moving rapidly towards my nipples because the baby was ready to be born! It sounds like you are about to pop!

  2. When you have contractions your body produces oxytocin which is one of the hormones that helps produce breast milk. That maybe why your breast are having sharp pains.

I have pain in my b*****s when I have contractions (and for a little while after wards).

If it keeps up you might want to get it looked at by a Dr or midwife.

  3. It's normal for your b*****s to have those pains.  They're growing and stretching and they're getting ready for birth themselves and preparing for lactation (whether you end up breastfeeding or not).  I had them a lot in early pregnancy when my b*****s first started swelling.  Now through the 2nd trimester I don't get it so much but I remember having it with my daughter at the third trimester and after birth.  It's normal.  A heating pad did me a world of wonders.

  4. dont know about the breast pains, itchy is common as your skin stretches. time your contractions how long each one is and how far apart they are.
