Do you know a website that tells you step by step how to sharpen skis? With pictures?

  1. Do a web search on ski tuning, Tognar tool has a very good explanation on how to do it.  I just watched the you tube video mentioned in Mel's answer. Part of it is OK, the side sharpening is very wrong.  A 1 x1 bevel is good for most skiing, the 1x0 that is shown will give no edge engagement on firm snow.  Some racers use a 2x3 bevel for very hard snow but will sharpen their skiis every day since the acute edge wears very quickly.  For recreational skiing and general teaching a 1x1 or a 1x2 bevel is a best compromise between sharp and  durable edges. To sharpen the skiis is very easy, use any of the edge tools from a ski shop.

    this is actually a step by step video of how to tune your skis.

    if you look on the side where the related videos are you can see there are numerous videos with more sharpening and tuning guides. most importantly, there are some with waxing guides (clutch if your gonna wax your skiis).
