Shaun Marcum may go to Disabled List, Tyler Thornburg to Triple-A Nashville – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, June 20, hinted at sending Shaun Marcum to the 15-day disabled list as the starter seemed to have some difficulty throwing. Although Marcum himself did not concede to be suffering from anything detrimental as far as his arm is concerned, the team nevertheless intends to bring in a fresh player.
This would allow the starter some rest as well. Reports suggested that Marcum had undergone an MRI exam in the start of this week. With the results out, which indicate there is nothing worrying, he – however, had reported to have stiffening of elbow while pitching.
There is nothing extremely worrying for both the player and the team as far as his surgically right elbow is concerned.
All considered, if the team really decides to send him to the disabled list, the pitcher might not be able to have any start up until July 1. That said, even if a fresh starter is inducted, it will have to be seen if he can throw with as much power and consistency as has been the characteristic of Marcum.
On the other hand, the team manager Ron Roenicke stated that the team has to go for this option given the lack of choice.
Be that as it may, the team on Wednesday decided to Tyler Thornburg from Double-A Huntsville to Triple-A Nashville. This comes only a day after the player made his debut.
The 23-year old pitching prospect, nonetheless, did not have much of regret. He rather had a nuanced response to this development. "I would much rather this happened than not happened," Thornburg said. "Now I can go back to Triple-A and work on some things that I need to do here."
Thornburg also spoke of what he thought of Triple-A Nashville. “The best hitters in the Minor Leagues are those three and four guys; it's one through nine here," he said. "So you really have to bear down on every pitch of every batter."
With changes that are sweeping the team, it will be interesting to see how the Brewers stay afloat in the League with considerable challenge at their side.
