Shaun Marcum to start Game 3 of the NLDS for Milwaukee Brewers – MLB Playoffs
The Milwaukee Brewers have picked up Shaun Marcum to start the National League Division Series Game 3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Brewers retained their cohesion and secured a 2-0 lead on Sunday, beating the Diamondbacks 9-4.
Shaun Marcum will now pitch in Game 3 at Chase Field in Phoenix where the Brewers will for the first time, not have the home advantage. Nonetheless, there is barely even an iota of worry for the Brewers’ starter. He is full of confidence and all set to wreck
more havoc on the Diamondbacks’ offence.
"This is a guy that can stop a big-time offense," Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke said. "He certainly did it a lot of times in the American League East. Those lineups there, with Boston and New York, you don't get any better than that."
Possessing the enviable qualities of a top-class pitcher, this talented starter of the Brewers has had his first ever Series in the team’s uniform. All the same, the team manager Ron Roenicke has not led the Brewers to this spot before.
Although Marcum may not have much experience helpful to intimidate the rival team but he still has familiarity with the Arizona Diamondbacks’ hitters. Having had a 13-7 record this season with a 3.54 ERA, Marcum comes across as a player actively seeking
to demonstrate his potential and talent. Given the opportunity, he has the talent and ability to provide some positive support for the team.
Nonetheless, his last three starts do not offer a particularly encouraging read. He has given a total of 18 runs in his last three starts for Milwaukee.
"At the start of the season, he was good everywhere -- home and road," Roenicke said. "Then he started pitching a lot better on the road. ... He relies on his command.”
Many hopes are attached to Marcum to help boost his morale, if paradoxically it does not bring him under more intense pressure. It will remain interesting to see how he cruises his way past it and guides the Brewers in Game 3.
