The top order batsman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, Shaun Marsh, is a doubtful starter for the high profile Boxing Day Test against India, scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) later this month.
The general manager of team performance, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Howard-c63371, told media reporters that Marsh has not yet recovered completely and his chances of making the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test are quite unlikely.
"While we are hopeful, Shaun's chances of recovering sufficiently in order to be considered for the first Test against India are considered unlikely at this stage," Howard told the media reporters on Tuesday.
Howard further added that the condition of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 will be continuously monitored in the meanwhile in order to make him available for the second Test of the four match series against India, commencing on January 3, next year at Sydney Cricket Ground.
The 28-year-old Western Australia batsman, who had scored a Test century on his debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in August earlier this year, has already been ruled out of the Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI squad to play a three-day tour match against India, starting
in Canberra on Thursday, December 15, 2011.

Marsh was targeting the two warm up matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to be played in Canberra next week for his return but the stylish batsman has not sufficiently recovered from the lower back injury and is unlikely to take the field in the next two weeks.
He has been replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan in the Cricket Australia Chairman XI squad for the two warm up matches against India .

Australia is scheduled to play India in four Tests and two T20 Internationals before playing a tri-nation ODI series featuring Sri Lanka as well.
