Shaun Marsh, the out of favour Australia top-order batsman, said on Friday that he had expected an axing from the national squad after an unimpressive 2011-12 domestic summer.
“I had a pretty average domestic summer and lost my spot in three formats of the game,” said the 28-year-old left-handed batsman while speaking to media reporters today.
“I expected to be dropped because I had a poor campaign and you expect to be dropped if you don’t perform for your country,” he added further.

The left-hander continued with his poor form in domestic competitions as well, and was subsequently dropped from the Australian set-up.

“I still feel as if I have got a lot to offer Australia and a lot of cricket left in me,” said the 28-year-old.
“It will take a big effort starting now with Glamorgan and I have to put runs on the board. I am down the pecking order at the moment, but every time I play now is a chance to prove myself,” he added further.
