http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SE-Marsh-c2470 turns to father for help – Cricket News Update
The under fire Aussie batsman, Shaun Marsh, has sought the guidance of his father, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
The left-hander is spending his time out of the national squad after a treacherous run with the bat, and is currently undergoing training sessions with his father, who has played a total of 50 Tests.
"I've been having hits with dad most days this week and it's been good. He came up to Brisbane last week. He didn't have any hits with me but to have his support has been pretty good,” he said.
The senior Marsh was unceremoniously fired from the post of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s head coach this year in January, after completing just 4 months of his two-year contract, but his son is not complaining.
"It's good to have dad back home. I've worked with him for the last few years now and I guess one of the good things about him getting sacked from Sri Lanka is that it means I can work with him," Marsh said.
The 28-year-old’s international cricket journey has been through a good number of ups and downs. Ever since his impressive Test debut against Sri Lanka in September 2011, during which he scored an impressive 141, out-performing his senior teammates, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362’s
career has been on a downward slide.
During Australia’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Post-recovery, the left-hander attempted a comeback in the series of 4 Test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in late 2011/early 2012, which turned out to be a disaster, with Marsh making a dismal 17 runs in six innings. Following that particular debacle, skipper Michael
Clarke suggested that perhaps the batsman needed to get away from the spotlight, and play in the Sheffield Shield awhile, to regain his form and rhythm.
Marsh is currently playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 in early February at the Gabba, during which he scored 79 in his first innings, has the opening batsman convinced
that he is on his way back to regaining his best form.
“(…)I had a decent start up in Queensland and hopefully I can continue that now," he said.
As national coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 has hinted, Marsh’s “path” to being selected for Australia’s upcoming tour of West Indies is through Sheffield Shield cricket, it would seem he’s well on his way.
