Shaun Marsh’s century gives Australia hope against England in 2nd ODI
Australia have scored 230 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 48.2 overs against England in the second One Day International (ODI) at Bellerive Oval.
England captain, Andrew Strauss, won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. The Aussie took a miserable batting start with openers Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 and Brad Haddin falling early.
Watson was the first wicket to fall to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had scored just six runs.
Watson gave a brilliant performance in the first ODI at Melbourne Cricket Ground, where he scored a marvellous 161 runs off 152 balls and remained not out.
He also performed excellently during the Ashes where Australia was thrashed by England.
Australia’s second wicket was also picked up by Shahzad when Brad Haddin got a fine inside edge that hit his wickets and was out for five runs off eight balls.
Australia lost four wickets for a total of 33 runs in 12.3 overs.
Skipper Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 could just add 10 runs off 23 balls and was caught by Ian Bell off the bowling of Tim Bresnan.
David Hussey was the fourth wicket to fall after, which there came a much need perios of stability.
Cameron White scored 45 runs off 76 balls including three fours.
Shaun Marsh, batting at number six scored a splendid 110 runs off 114 balls and Australia something to defend.
The 26-year old left-handed batsman hit 8 fours and two sixes before he was caught by Bell off the bowling of Tremlett.
Shahzad and Tremlett both picked up three wickets, and went for 43 and 22 runs respectively.
Bresnan and Yardy took two wickets each, giving away 37 and 61 runs respectively, in nine overs.
Jonathan Trott and James Tredwell remained wicketless.
With England’s current batting form they would be more confidence and will put pressure on the Aussies.
Australia will want to take early wickets and keep the pressure on with some tight bowling and fielding.
Australia had won the first ODI match by six wickets.
