Shaun McRae returns to Super League with Hull FC – Rugby League news
The freshly appointed director of rugby for Hulls FC, Shaun McRae has confirmed his comeback to the club on September 6 and will reign in for this post by the end of October 2011.
This news of McRae’s return, as Hulls’ director of rugby was poured in with the departure news of Richard Agar, the head coach of Hulls yesterday. Agar’s exit from Hull has surfaced six weeks after Adam Pearson bought the club.
Agar was really excited about his seven-year long stint with Hull. He reckons that his outfit is a bunch of quality players with whom he had the honour of playing two Challenge Cup finals and studding two Grand finals.
He further branded his run with Hulls very successful and mentioned that he is very proud of his team’s overall performance.
Agar will shoulder his responsibilities as the head coach until the end of this season, which will leave the spot vacant to be filled in. This kicked off the recruitment process for the position of head coach of Hull to be carried out to completion, by McRae.
McRae perceives his return to Hulls with eagerness and is looking forward to settle into the familiar surroundings of Hulls, for which they have worked for five years. He was on board with Hulls from 2000-04 and exited his term with them on medical grounds.
Also according to the latest update on Agar’s replacement, McRae has already begun with the groundwork.
Three candidates have already been shortlisted for the vacant head coach position.
On the other hand, Agar is the lucky one amongst the seven shortlisted candidates to be John Kear’s successor, for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. However, this decision will be announced by Friday, which is Hulls’ final clash of the season against the Bradford
Bulls.
While speaking about his experience with Hulls, Agar added, “It has been a fantastic experience to work for Hull FC over the last seven years. I consider it an honour to have worked with the players and staff of this great club. I leave with pride that we
have built a quality squad and culture.”
In addition, Agar wished luck for his directors, players, staff and fans for future games.
Sharing his views about Agar term at the franchise, Hulls’ spokesperson stated, “The board would like to place on record their heartfelt thanks for the excellent job Richard has done during his entire seven years at Hull FC, but particularly for his time
as head coach.”
He also mentioned that Richard has left the club in strong financial health along with all players in their best form for the upcoming season.
