Shaun McRae shortlists three candidates to replace Richard Agar – Rugby League news
Shaun McRae, the new Hull FC director has already shortlisted three candidates to replace their departing head coach, Richard Agar, on September 7, 2011.
No names have been confirmed by McRae enlisted within the short list. Only the number of contenders has been disclosed.
The news about Agar’s exit was confirmed yesterday that he will step down from his position with Hull FC by the end of this season to move in with the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats as their head coach.
This news was already circulating around for a month but it failed to get confirmation from Hulls’ and Agar both, who continued to negate publicly any such happenings until yesterday.
Agar has emerged lucky out of the seven-short listed candidates to succeed John Kear, as the head coach for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. The formal announcement is yet to be made about this latest development within the Wildcats by Friday, when Wakefield
is to battle against the Bradford Bulls.
The assistant to Tim Sheen, Peter Gentle is considered to be amongst the popular choices for Agar’s succession. Since there is no confirmation of any sort in this regard, nothing much can be drawn out of the information until the official announcement has
been made about the candidates on the list.
When approached to confirm Gentle’s inclusion amongst the short listed candidates, McRae added, “Peter is linked with every job. It's fair to say there are three very strong candidates. It's unfair to speculate but we would like to appoint sooner rather
than later. I would hope it will be within a couple of weeks.”
With this reply it is apparent that that there is competition amongst three for the given post. Nothing further has been disclosed about the top priority for the head coach’s position.
However, McRae’s answer clarified that they want to reach the final decision no later than a couple of weeks. This means that the wait to reveal the final successor of Agar will not take too long to lead a pack of quality players.
