Shaun Murphy all set to face Tom Ford in Round 2 of 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Former winner of the World Snooker Championship, England’s Shaun Murphy started this season with a poor performance in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament as he crashed out of the event in the very first round at the Wuxi Sports Center arena.
However, he managed to maintain his good form in the 2012 Six-Red World Championship and was able to make his way into the final encounter of the tournament where he tumbled down against Mark Davis by the score line of 8-4.
The former UK Championship winner is currently present in Victoria where he is playing in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria.
The Englishman was up against the Scottish potter, Marcus Campbell in the opening round of the tournament and after facing a tough resistance, he defeated him by the score line of 5-4 to book his place in the second round of the event.
England’s Tom Ford is his opponent in the second round. He defeated Welshman Dominic Dale in the first round of the game. Murphy has played against Ford a couple of times where he was victorious in one match and Ford was in the other so the odds are equal
here. However, Murphy has been in good form lately and believes he can perform well against anyone.
While speaking to World Snooker about his match against Ford, Murphy said, “It's hard to say whether I'm feeling confident or not after that kind of performance. I'm obviously over the moon that I've won, I'm not pleased with how I've won.”
The Magician added, “But I know that when it clicks together that it'll click good because I know I'm hitting the ball well, I am thinking clearly when I'm not worrying myself and I'm looking forward to the challenge of the next game. If I can take some
of my practice form to the table against Tom, it'll be a cracker.”
Murphy will definitely be looking forward to playing well against Ford and restore his good form that he is lacking from the final proceedings of the previous snooker season.
