Former World Champion Shaun Murphy and the cueman from Dumbarton, Marcus Campbell, are ready for their first-round clash of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011 at the Crucible Theatre
in Sheffield on Saturday, the 16th of April.
Murphy, winner of the 2005 World Snooker Championship, is determined to grab the title again. He won the PartyCasino.com Players Tour Championship Grand Final a few days back and reached the semi-final
stage of the Bank of Beijing China Open 2011 where he lost to the eventual champion Judd Trump 6-1.
Murphy has home-crowd support behind him because he is currently living in South Yorkshire. The 28-year-old believes he can add another world title to his name because he has tasted victory once before,
and knows how to handle the pressure.
The Magician expressed his love for the mega event and said he is determined to make a good run at the arena. About his match against Marcus Campbell, he said gone are the days when all of the seeds
were favourites to win their first-round matches. All qualifiers are exceptional now and so is Campbell, especially after he won a PTC tournament, and Murphy knows that his match with Campbell will be tough encounter.
Shaun Murphy has the tendency to win games quickly. He has been enjoying a good run of form during the current season as he has clinched 45 match victories out of 62, with a superb winning rate of
72.6 percent and a frame winning ratio of 59.3.
On the other hand, Marcus Campbell is also preparing himself for the Crucible battle against Murphy. The Dumbarton Destroyer, Campbell, debuted in the world championship last year but crashed out
at the hands of Mark Williams after a close encounter.
Campbell has been taking full session practice every weekday and a couple of hours on weekends. The Scot really looking forward for the championship because he enjoys playing at the Sheffield. According
to the 38-year-old, this year has been his best as he has been playing well throughout and getting good results.
Campbell’s performance in the current season has been quite remarkable. He has 38 match wins with a winning percentage of 67.9, while the Scot has won 201 frames out of 342, a frame winning rate of 58.8
percent
Both, Murphy and Campbell, have gone head-to-head only once during the season. They met in the fourth round of the Euro PTC Event 5 where Murphy defeated Campbell with a score-line of 4-2. Their Crucible
clash takes place on Saturday, the 16th of April.
