Shaun Murphy can’t wait to play in 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker News
Line up of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament has been finalised, except a couple of fixtures which will be filled after the Wild Card round. The top guns of snooker are getting ready to take on the challengers who made it to the televised stages of
the event through the qualifying session. The former World Snooker Champion from England, Shaun Murphy is quite excited to play in the event.
Murphy loves to play in China as he says that the Chinese people are very hospitable and loving. Despite the fact that he was unable to win any Chinese event but still he likes to go there and play.
This year’s Wuxi Classic is a golden opportunity for him to not only fulfil his wish of playing in China but also his ambition to win a Chinese-hosted snooker event. The Magician potter is desperately waiting for the moment when he will enter the Wuxi Sports
Centre in Wuxi, China to play his first match.
While speaking to the local media, Murphy said, “I enjoy working and I can't wait to get out to Wuxi. It has been nice get away from the airports and travelling for a few weeks, though I don't mind that side of things. When I was a kid, all I dreamed about
was being a snooker player and travelling the world seeing new places.”
The 29-year-old added, “Our job is not just about playing snooker, it's about giving something back to the sport that has been very good to us, and making sure it's in good shape for the next generation and the one after that. It's a great opportunity, and
the events around the world are part and parcel of that.”
Qualifying session of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event finished recently at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield producing 16 potters who made their way into the initial stage of the tournament. This year the Wuxi Classic will be launched as a major
ranking snooker event.
Before that, the event was just an invitational snooker event but the World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn announced its new status during the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
