Shaun Murphy donates to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity – Snooker News
Many of the professional potters have their own way to donate money to different charity organisations. Even the snooker governing body, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is always in the forefront of charity and fund raising
campaigns.
Recently the association launched a charity marathon in Sheffield where potters from around the UK participated to play their part.
The likes of former six-time World Snooker Championship winner, Steve Davis and the former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Shaun Murphy also participated in the World Snooker Charity Marathon in Sheffield.
Besides, the Magician, Murphy, is always helping different charity organisations within his capacity. Recently he has been donating £100 to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity after compiling each century during his matches. Murphy is always
participating in charity events and is known for his generosity.
While speaking to World Snooker, Murphy said, “I've started something this year where for each century break I make I'm donating £100 to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity. Obviously that's something very close to me, very important to me being
up in Manchester. One of my relatives has spent a lot of time in there herself, she's been very poorly.”
Currently the Englishman is present in Australia where he is participating in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament which is being held at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria. The Magician has made his way successfully into the quarter-final
stage of the tournament after trouncing compatriot Tom Ford in the second round of the event by the score-line of 5-1. Murphy put in a tremendous effort as he played brilliantly against Ford and dominated the proceedings.
Ford cruised into 0-1 lead winning the first frame but after that Murphy did not let him do more damage and hit five consecutive frame wins to claim the second round game win and a place in the quarters. Murphy is quite hopeful of making an appearance in
the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open and winning the event. It will be interesting to see how far Murphy can carry some of his winning momentum forward as he seems to be in good form.
