Shaun Murphy feels honoured to win Premier League Snooker: 2012-13 Snooker Season
Previous snooker season was a convincing finish for the former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Shaun Murphy as he was able to claim some noticeable event victories during his season run. He did manage to reach the advance stages of the major
ranking snooker but was unable to win any of them.
However, he was outstanding in the minor and non ranking snooker tournaments and claimed a couple of titles including the Players Tour Championship (PTC), Championship League Snooker (CLS) and the Premiere League Snooker (PLS).
His arch rival, the reigning World Snooker Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan was the second player who performed tremendously in both PTC, CLS and PLS. Murphy really enjoyed playing in these events and was able to improve his ranking points. He also clinched the
non ranking snooker event of 2011 Brazil Masters where he ousted former World Snooker Championship winner, Graeme Dott of Scotland.
Murphy’s convincing performance in the mentioned events enabled him to stay in the top potters so that he could participate in the 2012-13 Snooker Season events. The English potter feels honoured to be a part of these tournaments and believes that he will
continue playing on the same level in the new season events too.
In his recent interview with Pro Snooker Blog, Murphy said, “I think that I am the only player other than Ronnie to win it in the last seven or eight years, so that is obviously a great honour, I am really glad that I got picked, it certainly makes the trip
to Brazil seem more worthwhile now, maybe some of the other players who didn’t go might be ruing that decision.”
The Magician added, “To be in it is great, it’s a great event, it’s one of the best events that we have all year, it’s a little bit less pressure because there are no points at stake, we can just go and play with freedom and really try and entertain the
crowd and have a great time.”
Murphy has given a sound start to his new season campaign but has not won any title yet. Nevertheless, he is working really hard to get back in business and grab some trophy before he goes into the major ranking events of the season.
