Shaun Murphy helps raising funds for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity
Snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) and many prominent players are always in the fore front of raising funds for different charity organisations.
World Snooker officially supports the Haven House Children Hospital charity organisation while some other players have their own priorities for that purpose.
Former World Snooker Championship winner from England, Shaun Murphy is also one of those players who always try to help charity organisations. He has been helping Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity for a couple of seasons.
He helped the organisation by raising funds for them and he also announced that he will donate £100 for each century break he compiles. He is trying his best to raise more funds for the organisation so that they can serve humanity.
In his recent interview with Pro Snooker Blog, Murphy said, “I have teamed up with the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity and am trying to do as many things as I can to promote them. A member of my family has spent a lot of time there. You see
a lot of players involved in different things away from snooker and the more the better I think.”
The Magician added, “I started it at the Crucible and I think I made two (centuries), then I think I made one (century) in Australia. The worry I’ve got is that if I miss in the 90’s people are going to think that I’ve missed on purpose to save the hundred
quid!”
Recently all major names, including the former champ Murphy and the former six-time World Snooker Championship Steve Davis, participated in a charity marathon by the title of Sheffield Marathon. The basic purpose of this race was to raise funds for charity
and the players took part in the race with full dedication.
Before his 2012 World Snooker Championship campaign, Murphy decided to donate £100 for each century. He is one of the leading cuemen who have always been in the charity activities. Many other legends like the former six-time World Snooker Championship runner
up, Jimmy White, the World Number one Mark Selby and former two-time World Snooker Champion Mark Williams also help different charity organisations.
