Shaun Murphy hopeful of good run in new snooker season – Snooker Update
New snooker season was a convincing finish for the former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Shaun Murphy as he was able to claim some noticeable wins to remain in the top ranks. However, after facing a slow start in the new snooker season, the
English potter is now hoping for a positive run ahead in the new snooker season.
While speaking to Pro Snooker Blog in an interview, Murphy said, “I had a decent season last year. I think a lot of players are getting into the swing of things now in this new era of snooker. A lot of the changes aren’t new anymore so the players are settling
into the PTCs and the travelling and I feel like I have been one of the biggest supporters of the tour.”
He added, “I have loved every minute of it and can’t wait to get back on the road if you like. But I think that at some time in the season that will come back and I will be a little bit fresher, maybe not as worn out as some of the other players and who
knows how that will pan out.”
The Englishman claimed the 2011 Brazil Masters snooker event title beating the former champion from Scotland, Graeme Dott by the score line of 5-0.
After that he tumbled down a bit in the major ranking snooker events while he performed tremendously in the Players Tour Championship (PTC), Premier League Snooker (PLS) and Championship League Snooker (CLS) claiming a couple of events. One of his tremendous
performances in the previous snooker season was seen in the 2012 Master snooker tournament where he reached the final encounter but lost there to the former World Snooker Champion from Australia, Neil Robertson by 10-6.
The Magician failed to perform according to the standards in the 2012 China Open and the 2012 World Snooker Championship as he crashed out in the opening rounds. However, he was confident in the new snooker season but began his run with another early exit
from the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker contest at the hands of former champ Ken Doherty by 5-1.
Meanwhile, he is now showing consistent performance in the new season with the hopes to improve in the upcoming events.
