Shaun Murphy misses World Snooker marathon due to foot injury – Snooker News
Snooker governing body, World Snooker has always been in the fore front of the charity activities and all the top guns of the game have always been helping the cause with all their skills and might whether by playing in tournaments or taking part in the
fund raising campaigns.
Recently World Snooker organised a World Snooker Marathon in order to collect funds for charity and all the international potters were invited to take part in that race and play their part in the cause. The Marathon will be collecting money for Paul Hunter
Foundation, which is a World Snooker sponsored charity organisation established by the name of snooker ace, Paul Hunter.
The marathon will feature all top guns of snooker running for the charity. The former World Snooker Champions Steve Davis, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Dennis Taylor and many other will take part in the race. However, Shaun Murphy will miss this opportunity because
he recently injured his foot which requires anti-inflammatories so he will not take part in the marathon.
While speaking to the media about his foot injury, Murphy said, “In training, I’ve developed a foot problem that is requiring anti-inflammatories. The injury has meant I’ve not been able to prepare properly. For my first half-marathon, it was key for me
to have clocked up enough miles beforehand to really build up my fitness.”
He added, “Unfortunately, this just hasn’t been possible with the foot injury and, as such, I have no alternative but to pull out of the race. I will be there on the day supporting fellow snooker player Steve Davis in the race – and, if my foot allows, I
am planning to get involved in the Fun Run.”
The marathon will cover half of the snooker city of Sheffield on May 27, 2012. Former World Snooker Champion from England, Shaun Murphy showed impressive form in the 2011-12 Snooker Season and was able to finish among the Top 16 potters of the world.
The Englishman is now looking for a superb run in the upcoming snooker season. One of his major objectives is always winning snooker’s most prestigious event, the World Snooker Championship.
