Shaun Murphy satisfied with his form against Jamie Jones in 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former World Snooker Champion from England’ Shaun Murphy had a blast against the Welshman, Jamie Jones in the opening round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The Englishman was not able to deliver in the final session
of the game and tumbled down at the hands of Jones by a superb score line of 10-8.
The Magician kept the score board ticking from the beginning of the match as he went neck-to-neck with the Welsh potter with the aim to hit the victory and book his place in the second round.
He was well prepared before he entered the arena and was confident that he will make a great comeback into the game because his season campaign was not so good. Murphy believed he performed well in the game and has no regrets as he is quite satisfied with
his performance in the tournament.
While speaking to World Snooker, Murphy said, “It was a fantastic game, I really enjoyed it. Its sounds funny saying that having got beat. I thought the match was really high quality, I thought Jamie held himself together really well and he didn't play like
a debutant.”
He added, “I don't think anyone plays their absolute best here on the first week. I thought I played well, I have no real complaints about my game, I've certainly played a lot worse and won before.”
The Whiston Warrior clinched an early lead in the game with some outstanding knocks against Jones. At the end of the second session, Murphy was leading the match by 6-4 with the highest break of 73. Jones clinched the next frame to move within one frame
up at 6-5. Murphy hit back with a classy 101 clearance to extend his lead to 7-5.
Jones kept his pace and fought back to hit four frame victories to reach 10-8 and won the game. Jones was quite excited by his tremendous performance after beating the former Champ. He will next meet England’s Andrew Higginson in the second round of the
2012 World Snooker Championship. It will be exciting to see how far Jones can carry his winning momentum in the tournament.
