Shaun Pollock against radical changes in Mumbai Indians’ squad
Shaun Pollock, the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians, is against any radical changes in his side despite a confirmed place for Mumbai in the semi-finals of the league.
Pollock, on Monday said that Mumbai Indians don’t take anything for granted and they will play with the full squad against Kings XI Punjab.
Punjab is at the bottom of the table while Mumbai are atop the group with 16 points from 10 games.
The Mumbai Indians decimated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in their last match to confirm their place in final four.
The South African believes that gaining momentum is crucial in these tournaments and they would like to keep on winning. Mumbai will not be resting key players for Tuesday’s match in Mohali. Pollock wants to maintain the high standards set by his side.
“Confidence is important and you want to keep confidence and momentum going. We are in a good position but that doesn't mean you have to make changes. At some stage it tends to look easy and then there is a slip. It's an important game for us, every game is an important one," said Pollock.
The former South African cricketer, however, refused to unveil the combination Mumbai Indians will go with in their match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833. He said that it was up to the management to decide which players will be resting.
Pollock also affirmed that his team’s star batman, Sachin Tendulkar, is absolutely fine and there are no fitness issues with him. He clarified that Sachin missed the practice session only to get some rest since he has been playing without a break since quite some time.
Pollock assured that Sachin will be playing, and said, “From practice perspective, Sachin has been involved (playing cricket) for 3-4 months now and not having one net practice doesn't make much of a difference. Sometimes rest is better than having time in the nets and on the field...he will be ready for us tomorrow.”
Mumbai Indians play Deccan Chargers on May 14, 2011, followed by almost a week of rest. Pollock asserts that the break will be a good time for the management to make future plans and analyse team performance.
