Shaun Pollock not worried about Harbhajan’s slump in form – Cricket News Update
The Mumbai Indians' bowling coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Maclean-Pollock-c89847, said on Thursday that he was not worried about skipper Harbhajan Singh’s slump in form and said that it was just a matter of time before the promising offie strikes form.
Despite the fact that the senior off-spinner has claimed only one wicket in seven IPL outings so far this season, the former South African skipper and current Mumbai Indians mentor said that Bhajji’s form has not been worrying.
"Harbhajan sets very high standards for himself and his performance hasn't been that bad,” said Pollock, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in New Delhi on Friday.
“Obviously, he hasn't got a lot wickets but that is not something we are worried about," the South African added further.
Harbhajan, who was appointed as the Mumbai Indians skipper after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 stepped down ahead of the ongoing fifth instalment of the lucrative Twenty20 league, has failed to make an impact with his off-spin so far in the tournament. His extended lean
patch has earned him a lot of criticism, especially his decision not to bowl even a single over in the seven-wicket loss to Delhi Daredevils at home. Many feel the turbanator is being bogged down by the captaincy pressure, but Pollock said the under-fire off-spinner
is a world-class bowler and hoped he will soon strike form.
Bhajji’s bowling technique has also come under scrutiny as pundits feel he was bowling a bit flat, but Pollock defended the offie saying it depends upon the situation in which a bowler comes in to bowl.
"It depends on what situation you are bowling and to whom you are bowling,” said the 38-year-old former Proteas all-rounder.
“There are times when he is coming to bowl with two set batsmen at the crease. It is difficult to throw the ball up in these situations as to when you are bowling to a new batsmen. But there is no doubt about the fact that he has played a lot of cricket
here and knows the conditions very well," he added further.
Mumbai Indians have so far won four of their seven total outings and stand seven on the points table. While Delhi Daredevils are at the top with five wins in seven games.
