http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Maclean-Pollock-c89847 wary of Gayle and de Villiers ahead of match against RCB – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 de Villiers as his team gets ready to play the Royal Challengers Bangalore in an away Indian Premier League game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium,
Bangalore on Monday, May 14, 2012.
Though satisfied with his team’s game plan for the star-studded RCB batting line-up, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers are still on Pollock’s mind, who wants to see Jamaican opener’s back as early as possible on Monday.
"If we get him early, it will be a big blow for RCB,” said Pollock on the eve of the match. “We obviously realise, he is a very important player for the hosts. He has been making runs consistently. We also don't want de Villiers to
play well against us tomorrow [Monday]," he added further.
Whilst Gayle has been providing the Royal Challengers with solid platforms, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 made a name for himself as a potential match finisher.
With a tally of 572 runs from 12 games, Gayle is the current orange cap holder. The left-hander has struck seven half centuries in 11 innings and holds an impressive strike rate of over 152. De Villiers, on the other hand, is totally
unpredictable with his innovative switch shots. Though he does not find himself among the top ten on IPL-V runs chart, he holds a healthy batting average of 50.16 and a brilliant strike rate of 172.98.
Asked about their game plan for Monday’s encounter, the 38-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 all-rounder said, "We will be in trouble if we made our strategy against RCB public. Obviously, we have a strategy against RCB that we would like
to keep within the four walls of the dressing room," Pollock told reporters at the pre-match press conference here.
Though the Harbhajan led Mumbai Indians currently find themselves third on the IPL-V standings, with eight wins in 13 outings, consistency has been a major cause of concern for the team management. However, Pollock is not much bothered
by MI’s inconsistency and said that it is because of the highly competitive nature of tournament.
