Shaun Tait To Come Back?

Owing to CA's concern for Brett Lee's workload, Tait has stated that although he planned to come back to state cricket next season, he would come back in 3 weeks if asked to give Lee some respite.According to cricket reporter Ben Dorries(The Daily Telegraph) Lee won't hear of taking it easy, as his country needs him more than ever now. Should Tait come back now? What are your thoughts?

  1. Having read much about Tait since I came to WA to live, I don't think he has dropped the idea that he was wronged somehow by Brett Lee being named the spearhead bowler to replace McGrath. Now you & I know that is ludicrous, that he(Tait) never would have, but I think someone convinced him it should have been him. Just from what i've read, mind you. I don't think he is ready, and I doubt he ever will be in his mind.

  2. well my worry is not about his mentality, if he says hes ready to comeback then i am willing to take his word for it, my concern is that the guy hasnt bowled a ball in anger for around 6 months, so i dont think he has any form on the table to bring to a national side, whereas someone like Noffke and also Bollinger have never been in better form in their lives!

just because you have pace doesnt mean you are your sides spearhead, McGrath was only fast-medium, but he was our spearhead for years, even while Lee was in the side. your fastest bowler is your "enforcer" but can be the spearhead if they are good enough, but to me your spearhead is the bloke you can depend on for wickets when you need them, that person was McGrath and now hes gone its Lee

Noffke and Bollinger have form on the board, Tait doesnt right now, form has to be rewarded with opportunity, those to guys are good enough to do the job, so let them have the chance to prove themselves

  3. I don't think he should. Owning to the fact that he said his problem was probably more mental than anything, coming back would just cause a problem anyway. I don't think it is something he can just turn on and off like a tap.

I personally think he is over-rated anyway. In this day and age just running in and pounding the ball into the pitch doesn’t cut it anymore.

  4. Well i hope not..I am not being mean or hasty in saying this but Shaun only took himself out of cricket 6-7 months ago..

For someone to have 'burn-out' as much as Shaun it is going to take alot more than a few months for him to recover..

I don't really think much of Shaun Tait as a fast bowler-granted i don't know much about him in State division but he has proved he is very expensive in International terms...I would like him to come back when he is physically and mentally fit..The last thing he needs is to push himself back into cricket because he thinks the team is suffering with out him..He walked away from cricket in January this year because of physical and mental exertion, that cant just be fixed over night, even last month in an article he said he was still at least 3 months away from returning to any form of cricket--I think it is too soon, personally anyway....

Everyone is making comment on Johnson, and how bad he has been lately, well i saw an article in yahoo sports yesterday saying he is bowling a lot tidier and not conceding as many no balls of wides..I want people to give Mitchell a go,remember when Brett first started people wer'nt too crash hot on him or his performances,i really thing Mitchell Johnson is going to be a very good bowler-with more experience..

Don't forget Mitchell has only been on the scene since November last year..And i do remember people taking a while to warm to Brett too...

  5. yea i think he should wait a little longer. right now australia has brett lee, michael clarke, mitchell johnson

  6. If Shaun Tait thinks he's ready then he's ready. The pressure is on him, this is his burden if he stuffs things up.

  7. I don't think Tait should be rushed back.  Let him settle back, go play some county cricket and then State.  See how he goes the important thing is to try and avoid a repeat occurrence.

I fail to see if CA brings along a complete battery why not doesn't use it?  If Noffke and Bollinger are there, why not use one or two of them (Johnson is out of form). Both of them had great season they should be used. What are they? Net bowlers only?

  8. i hope shaun tait will come back becoz now is really hard for lee to take burden he must need one good partner and tait is the right choice.

  9. I don't think it would be a good idea for Shaun Tait to make a comeback now. He took a break due to mental exhaustion. If he rushes back too soon, it could damage his career long term.

Lee himself acknowledges there are concerns over his workload, but reminds us that he carried the drinks for eighteen months, and wants to optimise every opportunity to play for Australia.

So I don't think it is likely that Lee will sit out the 3rd Test, or that Tait will make a comeback. Depending on the pitch, a fourth fast bowler, either Noffke or Bollinger, may be picked to replace MacGill, and the spin options will be shared between Symonds, Clarke and Katich. The three of them should be able to between them bowl the overs MacGill would have been entrusted with (so on current form about 3!!!), and a fourth pace bowler should allow Lee some respite.

Tait should be nursed back into action. The very fact he is saying he would make a comeback now demonstrates that his thought processes are still not yet stable.

Tait and Johnson are the future of Australian pace bowling, and they need to be looked after.
