Shaun Tait not in favour of four-pronged pace attack – Cricket News Update
As the Aussies get ready to claim a series win against the Indians at Perth in the third Test match, their former longer version pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SW-Tait-c2616 has shunned suggestions of a four prong pace attack, claiming it as a bad idea.
One of the world’s fastest pacer, Tait has endured difficult times with injury which forced him to play only three Test matches in his career after making his debut in 2005. Ironically, his last five-day outing came against the Men In Blue at Perth where
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Clark-c2591 and Tait himself.
As it turned out, the hosts lost the match by 72 runs with Tait failing to take a single scalp. He recalled his time where he burned out due to exhaustion and claimed that a spinner is a necessity in team.
"Not after my experience," Tait said in the ‘Sydney Moring Herald’.
"Even if I was bowling well in that Test, I'm not sure I would've bowled that much anyway. You just felt like, if everyone else was tired, Ricky [Ponting] would chuck me the ball. If you've got three quicks, a part-timer and a spinner, I think you're fine."
This time around, the possibility of four pacers has again resurfaced given the amount of bounce on offer. With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 out of the series, it gives
current skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 in the side.
Also with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330 expected to return to the team after a lengthy injury break, it would be ill-advised to bowl for longer periods in his first competitive game after returning.
Now plying his trade in only T20 circuits all over, Tait further claimed that he had become sick of the game due to constant injury worries, recalling the fear of his body wearing down.
"It's hard to remember everything that was going through my head but, for a long time before that, it had been building up. I was sick of cricket, basically. Sick of injuries all the time,” said Tait.
