Shaun Tait says joining Melbourne Renegades was an easy choice – Cricket News Update
The Australia speedster, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SW-Tait-c2616, said on Thursday that crossing the border to join the Melbourne Renegades was an easy choice for him.
The 28-year-old South http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 pace bowler told the media reporters today that Renegades were the first side to contact him for the restructured Big Bash tournament.
''The Renegades were the first side that contacted me and showed some serious interest from ball one,'' Tait, who is a freelance Twenty20 bowler these days, told the media persons today.
Tait was excited to work with the Melbourne Renegades’ coach, Simon Helmot, with whom he had been working in the past. Tait said that he has developed quite friendly relations with Helmot over the past couple of years.
''I've known http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-Grant-Helmot-c90344 for a few years now and I love the way he goes about things,” said the right-arm fast bowler. “He's a pretty chilled-out character. A lot of the guys in the side I've developed a good friendship over the years and its always good
to play with some mates,” he added further.
Tait, who retired from the One Day International cricket at the conclusion of Australia's World Cup campaign in March, earlier this year, to focus on the shortest format of the game, said that Twenty20 cricket is a relatively new thing Down Under.
Tait, who played 3 Tests and 35 One Day Internationals for Australia, has also quit from First-class cricket with chronic elbow problems and his entire focus will be now on Twenty20 cricket.
''It was basically to prolong my career. I enjoy playing Twenty20 and its obvious easier on my body as well. It fits perfectly with me,'' said Tait.
He said that to promote the shortest version of the game the players should go against the tradition and play for new teams.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844, pacer said that he had always enjoyed playing at Melbourne Cricket Ground and hoped he will have good time out of Etihad Stadium this summer.
Tait also hailed the other players Renegades have roped in for this summer. He was happy for having the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DP-Nannes-c1396 in Renegades.
