Shaun White reveals his plans to compete at Winter X Games Tignes 2012
American professional snowboarder Shaun White has confirmed that he will be travelling to France this March to compete at Winter X Games Tignes 2012.
He revealed his plans to take on the best snowboarders from around the globe in the third edition of the European version of Winter X Games during a press release on Wednesday, February 22.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist will be among a field comprising of 150 winter sports athletes that will be competing for the coveted Winter X Games gold medals at one of the biggest stage of winter action sports.
The 25-year-old White will be competing in both the half and slopestyle contest at the upcoming Winter X Games Europe.
Renowned for his skills and charisma around the world, White enjoys a superstar status. Despite the snowboarding community full of talented riders of all ages, White has managed to stay in spotlight for a number of years now and is considered to be the rider
to beat at every snowboarding competition.
During Winter X Games Aspen 2012, White was forced to miss the slopestyle contest after spraining his ankle during practice. However, he managed to compete in the halfpipe contest and walked away with his fifth consecutive gold medal. This historic milestone
was accomplished through a historic performance. The Californian rider became the first athlete in Winter X Games history to land a seemingly perfect run and walk away with a perfect score.
Heading to Aspen earlier this year, White already held the record for winning the most number of gold medals and overall medal in Winter X Games history. However, he added yet another gold medal to his collection to take the count of his gold medals to 12
and overall medals to 17.
The face-off between White and the other formidable forces of snowboarding at Tignes in March is expected to be nothing short of electrifying. He will be facing the likes of Canada’s Mark McMorris, Winter X Games Aspen 2012 Slopestyle gold medallist, along
with his fellow countryman Sebastien Toutant and America’s Eric Willet in a battle for top honours.
Winter X Games Tignes 2012 is scheduled to go down in at Tignes Ski & Snowboard Resort from March 14-16.
