Shaun White to appear in court next month, apologises for his behaviour
When someone is one of the most exciting skateboarder and snowboarder in the world, it is not surprising to find him in the news.
However, the legendary Shaun White has managed to attract a lot of attraction in recent days, not because of his ability to create magic on both the skateboard as well as snowboard, but because of getting arrested on charges of vandalism and public intoxication.
The Olympic snowboard champion is said to have pulled a fire alarm at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, which led to the spread of panic across the hotel and forced evacuation of the guests.
Police arrived at the scene after getting a call from the hotel at 2 am on Sunday, September 16. A couple of eye witnesses confirmed that they had seen White pull the alarm, with one of the eye witness, a hotel employee, reporting that he had seen the action
sports star destroy a hotel phone.
According to reports, White had tried to make an escape on a cab after the whole incident, but he was stopped by a hotel guest, who informed the cab driver that the police was on its way.
The 26-year-old athlete kicked the man and tried to make a run for it, but was eventually brought to a halt after colliding with the guest, hitting his head on a fence in the process.
The legendary action sports athlete appeared drunk when the police apprehended him and despite being offered a chance to sign misdemeanour citations, he refused, which, according to a police source, led to his arrest.
It was confirmed by Baptist Hospital that White had received the treatment there and release on Monday before being taken to the jail by the police.
White apologised to his fans on his Facebook page for "any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests.”
He added that he was "celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behavior."
White is due to appear in court on October 10.
