Shaun Wright Philips and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778 on their way out of Manchester City
After weeks of speculation, Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini has finally admitted that two of his players may be on their way out of the club before the January transfer window closes- namely, Shaun Wright Philips and Roque Santa Cruz.
Cruz is believed to be heading to Blackburn, which is the club where he started his career in English football. Philips, on the other hand, has been linked with two clubs from London, Fulham and West Ham, while Birmingham are also believed to be interested
in him.
Mancini admitted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937, who is due to undergo knee surgery soon, is of crucial importance at
the moment.
The two players in question, Philips and Cruz, were signed by the former manager, Mark Hughes, and since Roberto Mancini took over, both have found it hard to get games.
Philips is one of the most under-utilized players in England. Back in 2006, he was believed to be one of the most talented emerging players in England, and was snapped up by the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 from Manchester City. However, even after a move that saw City bag some
good amount of money, Philips was not able to get a starting place in Jose Mourinho’s team. The right winger also lost his place in the England team as a result of that. Shaun decided to go back to his first team, Manchester City, to revive his career, but
to his disappointment, Mark Hughes was let go and, once again, he was left on the sidelines. Now, he is looking to get reunited with his former manager, Hughes at Fulham.
Meanwhile, Cruz is looking to stay in the north-west of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 in 2007-08, and was later signed by City for seventeen and a half million pounds, in 2009.
Apart from being out of favour with Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323, Cruz has been plagued by a number of injuries at City. He has just been able to make 8 starts for City in almost 2 seasons, and he came on from the bench 16 times. This season, though, he has just been
able to start once.
Roberto Mancini said that Blackburn have been showing interest and talks are underway, so a deal may be struck soon. The Italian admitted that it is never easy to let a talented player go, but when there is not enough room to make everyone happy it is always
better for a player to move on.
Mancini said, "If an opportunity for either of them to play came up, then it would be better for them and I hope for Roque that in one or two days, he will have that... It is the same situation for Roque and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shaun-Wright-Phillips-c33277. He has two or three options."
Roberto Mancini, while commenting on his team’s performance this season, said that he is extremely pleased with the 2nd position at this point of the season. He added that, having spent so much money in the summers, he was under immense pressure
to perform. Mancini went on to say that, until now, his players have stuck to his plans, and, if things go well, they would have a great shot at the title in May.
