Shaun Wright-Phillips future at City not looking promising

Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips may possibly be on Roberto Mancini’s clear out list for the summer after still failing to agree on a new contract.

The Greenwich born right winger re-joined City from Chelsea in 2008 and has made a total of 57 appearances, scoring 9 goals.

It’s been reported in The Mirror that Phillips wants a pay rise of £40,000-a-week, which would put him amongst the top earners at the club and total his weekly earnings to £100,000.

The Eastland’s may have been cash-injected since the arrival of billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour, but any clubs primary goal is to act as a business and to cut its losses.

Mancini has been fortunate to remain in charge for another year and is making good use by totally revamping the squad to his liking.

The Italian tactician’s vision at the moment is to completely change the midfield by bringing in Yaya Toure, James Milner and David Silva.

Toure is already set to complete a £27million switch from Barcelona next week, whilst Jerome Boateng, who can also play midfield, has agreed a £11million move from Hamburg.

City are refusing to increase Phillips salary and with the added arrivals to the club, it puts a huge question mark to where his future lies.
