Shaune Fraser clinches Men’s 200m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Shaune Fraser of Gator Swim Club clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on day two of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, July 13.
The 24-year-old Fraser experienced fierce competition from his closest swimmer throughout the race but with his utter determination, he managed to reach the finishing end for first position.
With his alluring efforts, he stayed just one arm stroke ahead of his challenger and tapped the finishing wall for first position with the timing of 1 minute and 52.30 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was chased by his teammate, Brett M Fraser, who was 0.19 seconds slower from his former swimmer and stepped on the victory stand for second position by clocking a time of 1 minute and 52.49 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Matthew Thompson of West Florida Lighting, who stayed 0.70 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade by submitting a time of 1 minute and 53.19 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the 200m discipline was obtained by Nicholas Schwab of Indiana University, who stayed 0.17 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and reported a time of 1 minute and 53.36 seconds.
The 21-year-old Schwab was trailed by Eric M Ress of Santa Clara Swim, who remained 0.31 seconds apart and occupied fifth position of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 53.67 seconds.
Subsequently, Ress was chased by Youse Alaskari of Davie Nadadores, who remained 0.21 seconds apart and hit the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 53.88 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Dan Wallace of Gator Swim Club, who was almost one body length behind and appeared on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 54.61 seconds.
The 19-year-old Wallace was traced by Juli Ballestas of Metro Aquatic Club, who finished eighth in the discipline by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.12 seconds.
Furthermore, Fraser was contented with his accomplishment in the 200m discipline and received acknowledgement from the crowd.
