Sergei Shavlo has blamed Spartak players for their latest 5-1 defeat in the Russian Premier League against Dynamo Moscow that led to Unai Emery’s sacking
Valery Karpin has been appointed Spartak Moscow’s interim manager until the end of the campaign. The former Real Sociedad head coach replaced Unai Emery at the helm after taking the managerial charge at Luzhniki stadium on Sunday
afternoon.
The Spanish tactician was sacked hours after Spartak’s 5-1 league defeat against their arch rivals, Dynamo Moscow, at home.
Karpin, 43, become Spartak’s ninth manager since Oleg Romantsev was relieved from the managerial position back in 2003. But this short-term appointment could pave the way for ex-Krylia Sovetov Samara boss, Andrei Kobelev.
Sergei Shavlo has backed Karpin to alter the situation at the Moscow-based club and reminded him of the team’s excellent domestic run in the last round of the Russian championship last season.
The Red-Whites shocked the world after claiming the 2nd spot at the end of the season despite having a below par start to the league campaign last season.
“You have to trust Karpin. I think Karpin is capable of retaining the position for a longer period. I think that the return of Karpin is the right solution at the moment. He is someone who knows the team well and knows how to motivate
them.”
“I think that Emery tried but it did not work because the players do not follow him. He offered great vision to football but the squad struggled to realize his plan. When a team wins, it seems that all is well, but when the team
fails everyone blames the manager.” The Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
Shavlo revealed that Emery did a fine http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 to take the challenge and survive in an unfamiliar league for barely six months since joining the Moscow-based club from Valencia this summer.
The former Torpedo Moscow man revealed that Karpin will surely be benefited by the players signed by Emery during his tenure. The 41-year-old signed Romulo, Juan Insaurralde and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and Olympic
Lyonnais.
