Game-1: Dallas Mavericks 121 – Oklahoma City Thunder 112
Dallas Mavericks tipped off sluggishly in the first quarter, as the Oklahoma City Thunder used a 27-20 run to outscore them in the first, but the Mavs came back strongly late in the second quarter, when they made a 16-1 surge that
turned the deficit into a 55-46 lead at the halftime.
Mavericks forward Shawn Marion received a hit by Kendrick Perkins on his nose in the second quarter, but he didn’t left the court and played with the gauze in his nostril. Later in the third frame OKC closed in the gap with some
early possessions, but Marion quickly nipped their surge with a layup and then one from the charity stripe that pushed the score to a 64-57. When just 1:36 minutes were left in the third Marion dished another, which raised their lead 12-point.
Marion was fouled out in the fourth quarter, but until then he had played his part and the Mavs were well on their way to victory. The Mavs finished the game proceedings by registering the game-1 in their favour by 121-112.
Marion added 11 points along with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block shot during his 27 minutes sty on court.
Game-3: Dallas Mavericks 93 – Oklahoma City Thunder 87
Dallas Mavericks took the charge right from the start of the game-3 and sealed the first quarter in their favour by outscoring the Oklahoma City Thunder 27-12. Shawn Marion led the rally as he hit eight points for the Mavs in the
first quarter.
The Mavs went on stretching their lead in the second quarter of the game and when Marion poured in four more points and Dallas went 21 points ahead of OKC with more than two left in the first half. The Mavs finished the first half
leading the Thunder by 52-36. Marion shot 6 of 8 during the first two quarters of the game.
A dominant first half allowed the Mavs to sail in the third quarter, but Dallas had to stand firm against a late fourth quarter spurt by the Thunder that slashed the double-digit lead to just six points and more than three minutes
were still left in the game.
However, the Thunder failed to pounce on the opportunity, as they missed three successive three-point attempts. In the last two minutes the Thunder further cut the deficit, but they failed to snatch the lead from the Mavs. Dallas
in the end managed to squeak past the Thunder in a 93-87 win.
Marion led the Mavs from the front and scored 18 points together with four rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks.
