Shawn Michaels talks about retirement – WWE News
Former WWE superstar Shawn Michaels spoke had an Under the Ring interview recently, speaking about his retirement days and his back injury that caused him to leave the ring for the first time. According to Michaels, he is a lazy person which makes him the
perfect ‘retirement’ man.
“I’m enjoying it immensely. It works for me. I’m a lazy person by nature, so retirement is right up my alley. I would have done it sooner, obviously, but apparently you have to work before you retire, so it would have been in my best interest to get that
out of the way. I’m enjoying it very much,” said Michaels when asked about his retirement days.
“The first — I never said I retired the first time. I guess, in my mind, retirement is when you leave on your own terms. The first one, being told I was never going to wrestle again as the result of a back injury, obviously that’s not the way you envision
your career ending,” he replied when asked about his first retirement, which was indeed a forced one due to his injury.
Michaels also spoke of his return to the WWE as part of the NWO, which was being head by his friend Kevin Nash. Michaels asserted that his intentions were to make it a one-match comeback but things worked out for him and he stayed.
Michaels retired from the World Wrestling Entertainment following his defeat to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. Nicknamed The Heart Break Kid, Michaels stood as the most entertaining athlete in the WWE during his more than 20 years of wrestling. He still
is considered crowd’s favourite and he makes appearances every now and then.
Among all former fighters of the WWE, Shawn Michaels stands as an icon. He faced the most ferocious fighters of his time, and even though he lost at times, he made sure to entertain his fans as much possible. His last match against The Undertaker is considered
among the best matches in the history of the World Wrestling Entertainment.
For Michaels, his career is over but he will always love WWE and the fans.
