Shawn Milne wins the Shimano NEPCX-NBX Gran Prix Cyclo-Cross 1 2012 after his outrageous performance during the event.
He took a little over an hour to receive the honours and restricted his major opponents during the Elite Men’s category of the race.
“I felt comfortable from the beginning of the race, I knew I had the energy to get to the leaders so I took my time getting there,” he said after crossing the finish-line.
The American completed the race in an exact time of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 5 seconds and occupied the top podium position.
Canadian cyclist Michael Garrigan of Team Stage-Race/Blacksmith Cycle also was superb throughout the day but fell 7 seconds short at the second position.
There was nothing much to chose between the second and the third spots after a clashing, neck-to-neck sprint between Garrigan and Dan Timmerman of Team Rgm Watches-Richard Sachs.
Timmerman claimed the third spot after a photo-finish with Justin Lindine of Team Redline and Nicholas Keough of Team www.keoughcyclocross.com securing the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Garrigan was aware of the fact that he needed as many UCI points as possible in order to make it through the Canadian World Championships squad but it was not one of his days, as he settles for the second position after the race.
On the other hand, Laura Van Gilder of Team Mellow Mushroom wins the Elite women’s category of the race, restricting Elle Anderson and Arley Kemmerer at the second and the third positions respectively.
Crystal Anthony, Cassandra Maximenko, Natasha Elliot, Julie Lafreniere , Maureen Bruno Roy, Mary McConneloug and Kathleen Lysakowski occupied the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively.
