Shay Given to Arsenal and Manchester United tracking Mesut Özil
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger will attempt to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given.

Wenger was interested in Joe Hart, but Man City boss Roberto Mancini is set to make him the No. 1 at Eastlands, leaving Given as the No. 2. Wenger is still uncertain who his first-choice keeper is at Arsenal, and the club are in desperate need of a solid shot-stopper between the posts. Given would probably move to the Emirates on a loan deal.

Everton’s Steven Pienaar is wanted by Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill, and could make a switch as he is yet to be offered a new contract at Everton. Meanwhile, Villa’s James Milner, who is wanted by Manchester City, is now wanted by Manchester United, who will make a last-minute bid to bring the England midfielder to Old Trafford.

Additionally, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed yesterday he is considering making a £13.5million bid for Werder Bremen’s Mesut Özil. The German playmaker is in the last year of his contract, and Bremen need to sell him if they don’t want to lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Harry Redknapp is set to allow Peter Crouch to leave Tottenham Hotspur, and could replace him with Nice striker Loïc Rémy, who has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Tottenham.

Cesc Fabrégas committed his future to Arsenal on Friday, but Barcelona star Xavi insists the stay will not last long. Fabrégas was wanted by Barcelona all summer, and the Arsenal skipper ended speculation of a move back to the Camp Nou by issuing a statement apologising to the Arsenal fans.

Marlon King could make a move to Queens Park Rangers. The striker was released from prison after serving nine months for sexual assault and is currently looking for a new club. Meanwhile, Blackburn are attempting to bring Daniel Guiza of Fenerbahçe to Ewood Park for £5million.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson could make a move for former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb, who has been told by his club Barcelona he is surplus to requirements for the reigning Spanish champions. Also, Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is contemplating making a move for Portsmouth’s Kevin-Prince Boateng, who is certain to leave Fratton Park this summer.
