Fyodor Shcherbachenko has lamented Mordovia Saransk’s 1-0 Russian Premier League defeat against Kuban Krasnodar on Monday
Mordovia Saransk head coach, Fyodor Shcherbachenko, has hailed the Russian national team head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, insisting that the Russian football union has taken the right step to appoint the Italian tactician.
Capello replaced d**k Advocaat, who signed for PSV-Eindhoven last month, after Russia’s miserable Euro 2012 campaign. The Euro 2008 semi-finalists failed to progress from the group stages as they were knocked out of the European
tournament.
The fact that the former AC Milan manager went down to the locker room to chat with both sets of managers after the Russian Premier League tie between Mordovia and Kuban Krasnodar pleases Shcherbachenko, who believes that Capello
is capable of doing wonders.
Former Tottenham Hotspur boss, Harry Redknapp, and FC Alania Vladikavkaz’s Valery Gazzaev were the favourites to replace Advocaat, however, the Russian Football Union preferred to sign Capello instead of the aforementioned professionals.
“He watched the match and congratulated both the teams after a good game. This would only benefit his image. Of course, the Italian is a very good coach, and we can say great things about him. He is a true winner.” The Russian
second division winner was quoted as saying.
Though Shcherbachenko is adamant that Capello deserved the new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, he has warned the 66-year-old manager that his new job is not going to be a piece of cake. Saransk’s boss believes that it is going to take a while before Capello
will fix the Russian national team’s ageing problem.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Tom-Tomsk-c39228 assistant manager urged Capello to inject young players into the squad and asked the fans, who are expecting too much of him, to give maximum time to the new manager. Shcherbachenko advised the fans to remain
calm until the new manager finds new talent in Russia.
“He will have to work very hard as it has been many years since he has last won anything. Perhaps I'm wrong and only time will tell about what changes he bring to the Russian team.” He said.
