So my kitten is litter trained, but she doesn't realizes a litter box is downstairs and so she'll hold it til i bring her up stairs, and even then, she doesn't know where her box is, i have to bring her to her box. i repeatedly keep showing her where both of them are but she doesn't seem to remember where they are. How i can get her to remember?

  1. takes time, she is just a baby.

make sure she follows you to the box, dont carry her. she needs to remember scents. if she stops to rub he face on a wall, let her. she is marking the way. cats have a scent gland on their face.

  2. Keep a box upstairs until she is older, but still keep a box downstairs.  When you find she is happy to go downstairs, you can gradually start moving the "upstairs" box to the downstairs.  It might take a little time, but by the time both boxes are downstairs she will have no problem using the downstairs.

    Good Luck!

  3. you should put it in a place she goes often. for example, if she tends to stay near a window/door alot try putting it there so shes aware

  4. It's not that she doesn't "get it." It's that her scent is on the other spots and she's being attracted back to that. Cats are a little like dogs when it comes to their noses. They are highly sensitive and they are attracted to their own urine when it comes to peeing or pooping.

First off, go to the store and buy a big bottle of a product called "PetZyme." This product will eat the enzymes from kitties urine that cause the smell and attract her back to the place. Douse the area with it then wipe it up after about 5 minutes.

The you can place the box in that area, or where you want it. But remember, kitties are like children. They don't think to "hold it" until they find the box. They go where it's convenient. So you might want to get 2 or 3 little boxes and spread them around the house in areas she tends to hang out in. Then as she gets older you can begin removing the boxes and she'll probably be fine.

  5. if she is going in a specific spot you can put the litter box there untill she gets the point.  then slowly start moving it towards it's final spot.
