I've recently moved up a set in maths and now have a chance of doing the Higher paper for GCSEs (final year).

A particular friend of mine who I sit is also in this set and has been for a very long time. She is so nosey!! It’s unbelievable! Whenever I’m trying to work or try to attempt the questions given in class, she is constantly leaning over my shoulder trying to see what I’ve written down ad if its right, compared to hers. Another thing, when the teacher is doing an example on the board, asking for the answer from the class or just going through something, she whispers the answer all the time... it's extremely annoying.

As it's my final year for GCSEs, the teacher hand out past papers for us to do and makes us finish them for homework. I am usually unable to finish the paper due the amount of coursework I have. I received one paper back from the teacher and he told me that he's thinking whether to put me in the foundation Tier instead. I told like any friend would that.....

  1. I'd go and speak to the teacher in private - tell them that she is your friend but you would not like to sit with her as she is a distraction and ask if they would move you in the next class because you won't want to cause a scene.

They would need to be a very bad teacher not to do as you ask.

But just for the record - The lower tier paper is MUCH easier. I did it and came out with a B.

Loads of people on the higher tier class, people who were better at Maths than me, got a C because the paper was so hard - so don't fight it. Unless you expect to get an A, do the lower tier paper!

  2. im doing maths in a level and we are always asking each other the answers in classwork and what we got etc but i guess we are all of pretty much same ability, one week i might get an A and beat someone and next week i could get a C, often depends on the area of maths. However i do know what its like to have someone bug you about what you got when you havent done so well. Generally if i havent dont well and its for a reason ill just say it, eg "oh i got a c cos i ceebs to do it cos of cw". if you dont want to tell then just say you'd rather not say, even if they do persist to the point u tell them, they should have realised that u didnt think u did well and they wont put you down. As to the whispering answers thing, i hate that too, u dont get better being told the answer. Have u tried saying i know when she says in it. Could say it jokingly or kinda in a joking, 'derrrr' way if u get me. If sum1 did it to me a lot i would tell them that i wanted to try n work it out. just say "aww dont tell me im tryin to work it out". If its that bad, they will eventually get it wrong, so just say their answer and then go "oohh stop telling me it wrong" or watever.

As to the lower paper thing, take some time out to do a homework fully to prove to the teacher can do it. If you have any past papers, do one then hand it to your teacher and ask them if they could mark it.

    good luck with maths!

  3. Tell her to quit it.  She isn't a very good friend if she is doing that to you.

  4. Tell her to stop it and that she is annoying you, if she continues to do it ask the teacher to move you or her when you are not in the lesson time. If she asks you could always say you don't know why he moved one of you if you didn't want to tell her the truth or fall out with her.

  5. just tell her you hate her. maybe she has a crush on you...

Also maybe you should try leaning towards her every time and try to compare her answers and follow her tendency's...almost in like a mockery...

  6. Do you have to sit next to her> Ask your teacher to sit you somewhere else you have obviously rattled this girls cage. Keep yourself to yourself and good luck with those GCSE's

  7. i actually didnt read that.. but school is g*y....where im attending righ tnow.!
