I know of this person who's already 22. She interacts with people the way a 22-year old would do. But there are times when she'd "snap" and suddenly act like a kid. It's really weird and disturbing because you can't tell if she's just playing around or if it's serious. I just want to know if there's a certain term for this condition. Oh, and she also changes her voice to a kid's.

  1. She may be under stress.  Sometimes people have trouble controlling their emotions when they are under stress, and then it's a case of "the straw that breaks the camel's back."  In other words, anything can set them off, even if it doesn't seem to make sense.

A person who exhibits these kinds of symptoms should try some relaxation techniques, such as yoga or hypnosis, to see if they help.  If not, it's best to consult with a professional to get to the bottom of what's wrong and how to overcome it.

  2. sounds like Borderline Personality Disorder b/c of the sudden change of personality.

I remember when I was a teenager - occasionally (not often), I would have these sudden bursts of hyperactivity that lasted about 5 minutes.  It just came and left out of the blue.  I ended up later in life having a diagnosis of Unipolar (Bipolar prone to depression) and Anxiety Disorder.  I didn't seek treatment until 28 y.o. when I hit a bottom with alcohol and drugs.

I like what the person (mortiici) said about stress - that makes sense.
