Is this true? Next year these stadiums are gone???????? Shea stadium isn't that old comparing to Wrigley, Yankee Stadium, and Fenway. Even though i'm not a mets fan i still think Shea should stay.

  1. Shea is a big blue and orange eyesore.   I don't think too many tears willl be shed when it gets the wrecking ball.

Yankee Stadium is another story - it will be sad to see it go.

  2. i think shea should go and yankee should stay i mean shea stadium looks terrible it looks like someone just built it on a million dollars now yankee stadium is American history i think it should remain open as a museum and maybe a minor league ballpark that would be pretty cool

  3. Both Stadiums are getting the wrecking ball.  It is terrible.  They are selling seats from the stadiums, signs, and even DIRT from the field.  Literally.  There is so much history at Yankee Stadium, and they're just gonna rip it to the ground like it doesn't mean anything.  That's why I am taping Yankee Games this season, because it's the final season and it will be a great memory to have.

  4. The Toilet in Flushing is finally being flushed, hooray!  It's outdated.  Classic parks like Fenway and Wrigley with irreplaceable, unique features are worth preserving, but there is nothing special about Shea.

New Yankee Stadium is being built in as close to an exact reproduction as possible directly across the street from Yankee Stadium.  The inside will be as close to the same as they can keep it while adding more luxury suites.

  5. I'd love to see shea as a parking lot

  6. I think you are right.  Destroying a place where so many historical and not historical games have been played is wrong.  Where is the time honored traditions that make up baseball?  Getting destroyed for big, money making stadiums that are still in dangerous parts of town.

  7. Shea stadium is a throwback to the to way stadiums were made in the 60s: cram as many people as you can into the stadium and dam the consequences of sight lines and comfort.  Shea was originally supposed to have a dome and 30,000 more seats but stopped due to bad support beams and lack of funds.  I mean, the NFL told the jets to move out in 1983 because it was not fit for any sports team to play in.

Look, as much as I love Shea, it is time to move on with a new stadium.

  8. I will be sorry to see 2 Stadiums with such great history gone, but its time to make new history in a new park.

  9. i know for sure that yankee stadium is gone next year, everyone knows that

but i havent heard about shea stadium being gone next season. thats news to me

  10. Yes, both are gone after this year. They're both being torn down for new stadiums. How did you not know?

  11. Yea, both of those stadiums are going down next year. I don't think many Mets fans will be too sad to see Shea Stadium go. Citi field, the Mets' new stadium, is much nicer. It is a shame to see Yankee Stadium go though.

R.I.P, The House that Ruth Built.

  12. Shea has been a dump for years, the Mets deserve better than Shea at this point.  The stadium is not nearly as old as some of the oldest but it is in disrepair and has been for some time.  THey do not have the luxury boxes needed to compete with the yankees.  The Vet in Philly was torn down a few years ago, it was built in the 70's along with the parks in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and St. Louis all of which have met their demise.  Shea leaving will be a great thing for the Mets and their fans...not many Mets fans are even complaining about the park leaving this earth!
