Sheamus takes a stance against bullying at Tyl Middle School – WWE news
World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar Sheamus visited the Leonard J. Tyl Middle School in Montville on March 6, Tuesday, 2012, where he asked students if they had been bullied in school, and surprisingly half of them raised their hands.
Sheamus purpose of visiting the Montville school was to deliver an anti-bullying message since he is a major part of the ‘Be a Star’. Be a Star is co-founded by the WWE and the Creative Coalition and its sole purpose is to deliver anti-bullying messages
around the globe.
Sheamus told the kids, “I was physically, unbearably bullied. I felt there was something wrong with me.”
He further went onto say that he started thinking of himself as a ‘chubby ginger’, who was an introvert, small and stayed quiet most of the time. He even said that he was teased most of the time and beaten as well by other students. He then expressed his
feelings saying, “I didn’t want to come to school. I hated myself. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. It wasn’t a pleasant time.”
Sheamus said that Be a Star had asked him to be a part of it last April in 2012 and now it is quite an important part of his life. Not only Sheamus, 8 other WWE wrestlers have taken up the task of giving anti-bullying lessons and presentations to students
around the world.
Sheamus, while taking a stance against bullying, said, “Don’t ever let anyone tell you there’s nothing you can’t do. Everyone can put an end to it — once and for all. You have the power.”
The school’s resource officer Karen Moorehead said, “I think bullying happens everywhere. There’s just a flux with kids when they hit middle school because they’re trying to figure out who they are.”
Sheamus enjoyed his day among the kids who hailed the Celtic Warrior the way he deserves to be. He currently is signed to WWE’s SmackDown show and is scheduled to face WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan on WrestleMania 28 in April. Sheamus said
he has always been against bullying and since he was a victim of it, he knows exactly how a person feels when he is bullied.
