Tasmania 392 v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 146/8 (63.0 ov) - New South Wales trail by 246 runs with 2 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
In the ongoing Sheffield Shield four-day match, New South Wales trail by 246 runs with 2 wickets remaining in the 1st innings in response to the first innings tally of 392 runs by Tasmania at Manuka Oval, Canberra, on December 07, 2011.
Tasmania, after ending the first day of the game by posting 267 runs for the loss of six wickets came out to bat their way to domination on the second day as their batsmen seemed in impressive form.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matt-Johnston-c1920 and Tom Triffitt came out for Tasmania in order to carry their overnight knocks and leave their opponents flabbergasted.
However, Johnston after adding just two runs to his overnight tally of 15, was removed by New South Wales bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joshua-K-Lalor-c69521.
Meanwhile, Triffitt played handsomely and made life for the NSW bowlers extremely difficult as he smacked them all around the park without any remorse.
The batsman played an impressive knock of 69 runs before his departure. In the end, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 posted a mammoth tally of 392 runs at the end of their first innings.
With a tough tally to overcome, NSW began their innings in a bid to bat confidently against their opponents as they knew their batsmen needed to bat belligerently in order to subdue the opposition.
However, with just 11 runs on the board, the side lost their first wicket, when opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phil-Jaques-c2182, lost his wicket after playing a knock of five runs.
All-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SPD-Smith-c2555, was then dismissed without scoring a run, which put his side in enormous pressure as they were now two wickets down for only 12 runs.
The Tasmanian bowlers left their opponents completely out of breath as they prevented the batsmen from batting at will.
From NSW, opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Nevill-c2180, hammered an unbeaten knock of 47 runs to help NSW post 146 runs at stumps on the second day of play.
With just two wickets in hand, there is a bleak possibility for NSW to overcome the daunting tally ahead of them.
