Chris Lynn scored his second first-class century to ensure a draw for Queensland in their Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia at the Gabba, rescuing the Bulls after they found themselves struggling
to survive at 94 for three.
The Bulls were trailing the Warriors by 158 runs in their second innings with nine wickets in hand, after being rolled over for only 150 in their first innings in reply to Western Australia’s 331. The Bulls
then had to follow on, but almost immediately lost opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wade-Townsend-c2774 and were 23 for one by stumps on the third day of the Test.
The Warriors started the final day of the match on Monday looking at near-certain victory as play resumed and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Philipson-c1290 was soon trapped leg-before off Michael Hogan to leave Queensland with 27 runs
for two.
Philipson’s dismissal brought Chris Lynn to the crease, who formed a partnership with opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Broad-c2384 to steady the Bulls. A flurry of sweetly-timed boundaries eased the nerves of Queensland as Broad scored
the 12th half-century of his first-class career. He failed to capitalize on that fifty, however, and was holed out for 52 when he mistimed a delivery by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Bandy-c1328. Queensland were not 94 for three.
But 20-year-old Lynn, standing in his 10th first-class match, showed no signs of nerves and shared a useful 80-run partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Dunk-c1133 and Michael
Neser. Lynn scored the second century of his career with a huge six over long-off, hitting it off spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 were 277 for seven with a lead of 96 runs and centurion Lynn was unbeaten at 142.
Brett Dorey had led the Warriors’ bowling attack, claiming three wickets for 62, followed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Duffield-c2387 who took two wickets for 65. Michael Hogan and David Bandy took one wicket each.
